See you in 2011!

I plan to make 2011 a more adventurous, fashionable, and all around better year than 2010. Just watch me.

Have a fun // safe // magical new years! See you in 2011!

Let's DIY more in 2011, yeah?

These projects are fun, simple ways to de-clutter and get organized. Perfect for the new year.

Short + Sweet

I'm still sick, so I'm keeping posts short + sweet.

Mister Small

Super fun business card design for Mister Small, a London-based designer.

Summer Nights

Oh, how I wish it were summer again. This shoot is really tugging at my heart, making me long for the heat and long summer nights with friends and of course my boy. While I do love cuddling indoors with my adorable new kittens, I think I'd much rather cuddle up to the boy's mustang right now.

Gene's

Gene's is a sausage shop in Chicago with serious design style — designed by Chicago designer, Erik Eertmoed. Of course I love the use of Archer and the pairing of Archer with the retro script is genius! :) haha

Well, even though it has a little hint of my own branding style in there, it is unique in its color palette and identity system. The witty copywriting is so fun and the immense branding, from print collateral to t-shirts to the packaging labels to the website, is seamless. And who can resist a graphic silhouette of a cow?!

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to everyone!
I hope your weekend was more enjoyable than mine.
Although I did manage to come away with some sweet loot. Anyone get anything amazingly awesome that you simply must share with the blogworld?!

I have been beaten down with a virus/cold/flu/thing-that-kept-me-from-having-fun-on-Christmas — in other words — my holidays were spent in bed this year. Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend, I had a fun Christmas post planned, but of course was unable to really move, let alone focus on a computer screen all weekend. Hopefully whatever I have will get the heck out of my system soon so that I can at least enjoy the New Year.

And thank you to everyone for your well-wishes for my reunion. It was actually fun and I really enjoyed catching up with a bunch of people I lost touch with. I didn't quite look like the inspiration I gathered, but I think I did alright :)

5 Years..

Tonight is my 5 year high school reunion, yes they have those, and I so wish I could walk in dressed like this. Unfortunately, my legs are not 6 feet long and I can't quite afford a $1,485 bag... A girl can dream!

SauceBomb

Another beautiful identity, this time created by Jaime of Ketchup n Mustard, and her blog SauceBomb. The mark is simple, retro and just a little bit playful. Plus, she's using a seal, which let's face it, the blog world is smitten with these days :) Love it. via Faye + Co

BAKER ID

Design Work Life posted about the Evolution of the Baker Identity today and I was totally enthralled by each piece. I love seeing the progression of an identity, especially a well-designed one, so Baker's evolution was so fun to see documented. And of course, I love what they've come up with most recently. It's a strong system, using graphic elements like color, shape, and unique format to produce a cohesive, fun and modern identity. Oh how I wish I lived in Minnesota sometimes...that state has got some serious talent.

Comic Sans CRIMINAL

HOW blog posted about ComicSansCriminal.com and I can't believe no one thought of this sooner! It's a genius site, that I hope really catches on (I highly doubt that, but a girl can dream!). I know all of us designers and design-lovers have seen way too much abuse of comic sans and Matt Dempsey obviously saw one too many, so he created this super awesome site. You can download alternative/acceptable fonts and print out stickers to place on offensive signage, and even print the pledge out so that you can bind people to their word on paper! Love it!!

Ed Nacional

I came across Ed Nacional's design work for The Terry Shop and was blown away. I love the modern mixed with vintage feel of the typography and the design, right down to the torn edges on the hang tags. And the color palette is really beautiful. Retro-inspired, but with a modern flair.

The Waiting Game

Pinterest is down! And I can't seem to find anything else to do while I wait...
